Housing Application

Applying for housing can be a confusing process and we would like to make it easier for you. Below is a couple of tips/suggestions for you and your student to make it easier.

Application Info

  • Your student can apply for on-campus housing once they have been admitted to GSU. To check his/her application status, click here.
  • To apply for housing, you will need your students Eagle ID (looks like this: 900XXXXXX) and birthday (MMDDYYYY). Click here to apply.
  • Students can change their hall preferences or roommate preferences up till March 1st. To make a change, just log back in to the application.
  • To complete the application, you must finish both parts of the process:
    1. the online application and
    2. the non-refundable registration fee.
  • Is your student looking for a roommate? If so, then he/she can learn more about GSUs online roommate matching service: Lifetopia .

Housing Live On Requirement

  • All first year students are required to live on campus. To review the policy, please click here.
  • To complete an exemption request to this policy, click here

Housing Assignments/Contracts

  • University Housing will make the first round of housing assignments with the students who have complete applications on March 1st and will send out housing assignments and contracts by April 1st. This means that your student will know their hall and room as well as the roommate (if assigned yet) at this time.
  • When your student receives his/her housing assignment (it will be by email) he/she will need to sign in to the online housing contract system to either sign online or print and sign his/her housing contract. A $200 housing prepayment is also due at this time.
  • If your student is not happy with their housing assignment, he/she will be able to request a change by completing the Room Change Request Form. This form will be available on our website after the housing contracts are sent and will remain until mid-July. Changes will be granted as space becomes available.

Canceling your students Assignment/Contract

  • The $200 prepayment can be refunded in part if your student cancels their housing assignment. Students that cancel by May 1st get $175 of the prepayment refunded; students that cancel after May 1st and before July 15th get $100 of the prepayment refunded; and students that cancel after July 15th do not get any of the prepayment refunded. Please keep these dates in mind.
  • If your student changes their mind and does not plan to come to Georgia Southern, please make sure to complete the Housing Cancellation Form . Notifying the admissions office does NOT automatically notify housing and may cause you to miss the deadlines above.
